The day started off with us trying to set up. We were all pitching in to get the place ready for when the event begins. It was also interesting how we struggled to put up the banner. You would think that as teachers we would use our combined brain power to quickly to this, but this was not the case. We then went on a recruiting mission for people with children to partake in the event. We received questions now and then about what the event was about. Most parents felt that they did not get prior information about the event and therefore had left their children at home. I liked seeing the expressions on some of the Funda Ujabule children, it was a look of anger that their saturday was take away from them. When we finally got our chance to read, the session was rounding off. There were only a few children to listen to our stories. Before reading the story I tried to gauge which language the children were comfortable with. Most of them responded in isiZulu to my questions. As a result I read my story which was in English and made commentary in isiZulu to ensure that they understood what the story was about. After reading, it was time to pack up and go home.
