Tortoise is our main character in the story, she thinks that there is nothing special about being a tortoise. Her mother intervenes and tries to make her accept herself because there is nothing she can do about it. As tortoise tries to make herself stand out by being the cleanest tortoise she meets two ducks who become her friends. The python is mentioned in the story, as being a possible leader of all reptiles while the lion is mentioned as the supreme chief of all animals. The eagle is also mentioned as the paramount chief of all birds.
